The Learn, Use, Love Gathering is a time and space created specifically for people working in nonprofit data and technology. This work is hard, we are tired, there are barriers, but we are resilient.

Come together for a full day of learning, using, and loving our data and technology. Unite with like-minded peers to:

  • Apply mindfulness techniques to a (singular) real-world task or project.

    9 am - 9:30 am - Meditation Mindfulness: Grounding

    9:30 am-10 am - Break

    10 am - 11:30 am - LEARN Section:

    • We’ll dive deep together into the concepts of mindfulness (informed by Thich Nhat Hanh’s The Miracle of Mindfulness), deep work, and flow state. Together we will explore and try some of the techniques and practices of these concepts. And we will share our own techniques and practices for how work or would like to work best. We will have some breathing exercises, some meditation exercises, some movement exercises, and some mindfulness exercises.

    11:30am - 12:30pm Early Lunch

    12:30pm - 2:30pm - USE Section

    • Time to implement the techniques and practices from the LEARN section! We will make the space and time for ourselves to be mindful while we work on a singular task or project from our work, a personal project, or a piece of writing about your work and experience.

    • We broke this section up into two 45-min working times with a break for snacks.

    • Guaranteed we will close all of our tabs, put up an away message for our email inboxes, and some of us will close our computers and use pencil and paper.

    • While participants are practicing deep work and mindful work, the Make Tech Work For You team will be available for questions, guidance, and collaboration.

    2:30pm - 3:30pm - LOVE Section:

    • In this section, we will lean into the concept of Continuous Learning in data & technology as love.

    • We will do a deep dive into Adult Learning Principles and discuss how they relate to the particular landscape of data & technology learning.

    • We will put structure to continuous learning and love through a framework of building Professional Development plans in a totally new way.

    3:30pm - 4pm Close out with some mindfulness work and stretching/movement

  • To help create a welcoming and healthy community, participants are asked to take COVID-related precautions, and any new policies or potential cancellations will be announced if necessary.

  • In the event of a COVID-related cancellation or postponement, ticket holders have the right to cancel or request a postponement for their tickets, and if the event is rescheduled, all tickets will be automatically honored for the new date. However, tickets are generally non-refundable, except for a 7-day grace period from the date of purchase, during which ticket holders may request a cancellation by reaching out to admin (@) maketechworkforyou.com.
